Sat Nam. Yogi Bhajan (Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji) is a Kundalini Yoga master, a spiritual teacher, and the chief religious and administrative authority for the Ministry of Sikh Dharma in the Western Hemisphere. Yogi Bhajan was given the Ministerial title of "Siri Singh Sahib" by the central governing body of the Sikh religion, the Akal Takhat, in recognition of his work in the Western world. He is an individual of remarkable insight, powerful energy and an unwavering commitment to global healing, peace, and spiritual awareness. (See Santa Cruz Teachers' Training Course by Yogi Bhajan 1972.)

Yogi Bhajan is a Master of Kundalini Yoga, the Yoga of Awareness, and a dedicated and inspired teacher. Since arriving in the United States in 1969, he has dedicated himself to bringing meaning, dignity and a reconnection of Spirit into the lives of people everywhere, especially those people who have become lost and confused through the use of drugs.

"The purpose of life is to watch and experience living. To enjoy living every moment of it. And to live in environments, which are calm, quiet, slow, sophisticated, elegant. Just to be. Whether you are naked or you have a golden robe on you, that doesn't make any difference. The ideal purpose of your life is that you are grateful - great and full - that you are alive, and you enjoy it." Yogi Bhajan

Teaching Is Difficult
According to Yogi Bhajan

"God’s grace lives by the grace of a Teacher."

It is the most difficult thing to be a teacher. I definitely agree with you that it is a very huge experience. First of all, it means you have to be a very good student to begin with. You have to go through all the practices and you have to be very one-pointed to always maintain your sadhana so that your sadhana will maintain you through every test of the time. You cannot be a teacher if you cannot live to the teachings, because if you cannot live to what you ask of your student, then he will never have faith and he will never grow. (See What Is A Spiritual Teacher by Yogi Bhajan. See The Mahan Tantric.)

Teacher's Prayer
According To Yogi Bhajan

Everything that comes to you as a teacher comes to God directly. You are the custodian, and whatever defect you see in a student, it is your job to correct it, not confront it, not to lay it out. You cannot curse your student, doesn't matter how deadly wrong they are to you. You may not pray for those who are studying with you, but there is a moment in your prayer you always say. These are the words, which are normally used...please write it down here.

"Those whom I was supposed to teach and are unable to learn for my faults or for their faults, I ask thee O Lord to forgive me and serve them in my place. Protect them and grace them by Thy visit, help them and elevate them by Thy spirit and make them prosperous and happy so they can recognize Thee."

This you say, everyday.
Yogi Bhajan April 22, 1990

It is a very heavy situation, where I have asked you to become teachers and where the time demands that you become the teachers and the leaders of the Age. The life of a teacher is the last incarnation on this planet. If you can do it, then you stand as liberated.

Remember what I have always taught you: 'If you want to learn a thing, read that. If you want to know a thing, write that. If you want to master a thing, teach that.' It means that as a teacher of righteousness and Truth, you must master the Truth itself. You must become a Living Truth.

It is not that you have it overnight, but it is a gradual experience and a perfecting of your own projection and the mind which have to be brought in tune with the God-consciousness. And that takes a practice and a sincere effort on your part. You have to be sincere because you will definitely be tested and you will have so many hassles, so much slander, so many abuses, and there will be clouds and storms and hail to tear you apart."

M.S.S. Livtar Singh Khalsa tells of when he accompanied Yogi Bhajan, aka, Siri Singh Sahib, to the Atlantic Pop Festival. Livtar Singh said there were a half dozen, or so, different self proclaimed gurus at the event, and all of them were scheduled to go on stage to speak before the Siri Singh Sahib. However the kids were restless, impatient for the concert to begin, many were getting high, and no one paid much attention to guru after guru going onto stage and talking in their quite broken English about how they should meditate.

Then it was finally time for the Siri Singh Sahib to go on stage. Livtar Singh said it was profound to see how within ten minutes or so he had everyone chanting together, singing Sat Nam and moving their arms in what we now call celestial communication.

Afterwards, Livtar Singh asked him, "Sir, I do not understand what happened. You came on stage to an unreceptive crowd and spoke in the same broken English as the others, and yet the result was so different. Why? What do you know, what is your secret."

Livtar Singh said he answered with just one word: "Sadhana." --

"It is incumbent on those who know to teach those who do not know." Hari Singh Bird

"The mere act of teaching implies that one wishes the world well." Roger Rosenblatt

But you all have been handed the banner of Sat Naam, to keep it flying, come what may, and there will be many difficulties to test your devotion, to make you more and more strong and committed to that one reality of existence, that Infinite Truth. Those who can maintain through all the situations shall be known as the teachers. There may be many, may be few; it is the Will of God.

This is the only country where I have seen that men have their own bank account and their wives have their own bank account. It's very funny to me. Here the marriage is to control each other. That's not actually what marriage is. Marriage is to BE each other. Anything else is not marriage. Marriage is a divine institution in which two become one. To be each other is a promise before God that we should be each other. That is marriage. Try to understand marriage. It is a simple, unique situation. Where amalgamation takes place, a new metal comes out of the two. A new ego comes out of the two. A new identity comes out of the two. And it is forever. It is not only for today and not tomorrow. Try to understand. Everything can come to an end. Even life can come to an end. But one thing even God cannot end: the desire to be one in each other. This desire even God cannot take away. To be one with one is not the desire which God has the control.
Yogi Bhajan 7/15/1984

Marriage is not an easy path. Marriage is a life. Marriage is not a ceremony, marriage is God. Marriage is an institution of willingness, in which two identities want to amalgamate. It's an amalgamation of two egos to bring out a neutral new personality. When this amalgamation happens then the divine power in the psyche starts to function. Without that , people are individuals and they will only yell and scream at each other and goodness will never come in that home. It is a granted fact. Marriage brings happiness. It's an amalgamation of two psyches. And when these two psyches are amalgamated, neither one is an individual. There is no question of he and she. That's it. There is no loss, there is no gain, and there is no bank account.
Yogi Bhajan 7/15/1984 Ladies Camp

My request to you is do not let your calmness go. Do not let your peace of mind go. Be with the Guru through this time. Your spirit shall be content, and out of that contentment you'll find yourself with a lot of richness. It is very essential at this time. The majority of the world is living in a terrible fear. Nobody knows what is happening. There's too much information available to process. That is not the way. Just feel within yourself content and satisfied, peaceful and unique.
Yogi Bhajan

If you are willing to look at another person's behavior toward you as a reflection of the state of their relationship with themselves rather than a statement about your value as a person, then you will, over a period of time cease to react at all.
Yogi Bhajan

Today anywhere you go you will find that this is a living legacy which is not only for now, not only for the next one hundred years, but for the coming two thousand years of the Age of Aquarius, when mankind will find shelter in the 3HO way of life. And then, you who are here now, who are just considered to be a handful of people, shall be considered as the most Divine."
Yogi Bhajan 1/5/1994

You are walking on the path of the Guru, where you must glow in that radiance and that Truth so that others may recognize you are people of grace. And that's the way we are. If life is that short or long or small, it has a reason, a purpose, and you will do your purposeful living on this planet. That's why you are here. You have the right to prosperity and proportionate happiness, within yourselves and with each other. I pray, and pray deeply, that nothing should upset you. The Guru has designed your setup to guide you. Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice!
Yogi Bhajan

1. There is a way through every block.
2. Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times.
3. When the time is on you, start, and the pressure will be off.
4. Recognize the other person is you.
5. Vibrate the Cosmos and the Cosmos shall clear the path.
Yogi Bhajan

Relate to your Infinity.
Yogi Bhajan

3HO Life
According To Yogi Bhajan

"If you are willing to look at another person's behavior toward you as a reflection of
the state of their relationship with themselves rather than a statement about your
value as a person, then you will, over a period of time cease to react at all."

"You must understand when somebody talks to you, if you are not willing to
hear them out, you are foolishly going for an unsuccessful future. The first
principle of success is, when somebody is talking. Hear it. Don't interrupt. Let
him complete the sentence; hear him properly. When they are done and you
are asked to speak, do not answer the question if you cannot uplift the
person. If your answer uplifts that person, you shall be prosperous. "

One thing you have to want...is that your life should be Sat (Truth). All the time the very existence of you, you may feel it as gratitude. The very existence of you should be the very Living Truth.

Organic, life is an organic situation, not dead chemical. That is what Sat is. I am alive, I am alive. I am grateful for each breath which I am breathing and that is Satya. Without me this world is not beautiful. I am a part of the total decoration of this world and this realization is Satya. Now gimmick is being laid; 'get, follow my religion, my way is the only way blah, blah, blah,' all commercialism.

That is to get dollars out of you. That has got nothing to do with spirituality. 'You should be my student, you should not be his student, you should this...' All those weird things are going on but that is the commercial part of everything; that is general. 'My student should not follow anybody, this;' who's whose student and who is whose teacher, forget it; that has got nothing to do. I am bored on that way, that doesn't make any sense to me at all. People are crazy, they are dividing humanity in the name of religion, in the name of Yoga, in the name of master holder Sat Guru, Guru, all it is a bogus scene. It has got no reality in it.

They do not know two words that is love, they do not live in confidence and they do not teach, preach and be with each other like that and they have got this ritual. These rituals and this commercial emphasis is the heavy side of it. That is a very confusing and heavy side of life. Somebody asked me a question, "Why we have got 3HO?"

I said, "To be on the right side of the government. That's all; that's the only purpose of 3HO. "We have to present books to the government under some organization and that is the name we chose, 'To be healthy, to be happy and holy.'

We are not laying any trip on anybody, period, because basically we are trying to understand that we are the basic Satya, we are Sat. My existence is Truth. It is not Infinite Truth, it is a relative Truth and my existence is in relative Truth to her existence to his existence. So our total existence is a relative Truth and it is a part of the Infinite Truth therefore we are part of the Infinite Truth and this feeling in me is all the time my heart says Satya, Satya, Satya, Sat, Sat... You would take a stethoscope, the doctor has that thing put in ear and put it on the heart. It will say Satya, Satya, Satya put it at the navel point, it is going to say Satya, Satya, Satya. Anywhere, in the wrist, in the ankle, it beats all the time in you Satya, Satya, Sat, Sat.

You chant this Mantra all the time. I have not given you this Mantra. I just brought it as knowledge to acquaint you with it, to make you aware that you chant all the time. You chant with the mouth Satya and you take, record it on the voice meter and then you put the stethoscope and record it on the voice meter and you will know what the graph comes out. That will tell you what you chant. It is so typical example that our inner self in the Satya, it is a Infinity. The password is outside.

Everybody wants to love. When everybody wants to love why do they divorce? "We do not get along." It is not we do not get along with another person; we actually do not get along with our own Sat. We do not get along with our own Truth. We divorce Truth each day, each minute, each moment and that is what bothers us; that is a handicap in our personality. That is why we chant, 'Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Satya Nam, Satya Nam; I am the Infinite Truth.' So whatever you say you become. Now that is a cosmic law. There was no need of many Mantras. Every Mantra is the name of God. But in this Age when we have no time, the Age is short. Age is very short and really a joke.

We have written record in Vedas, people used to meditate twenty thousand years. What a time. I do not know how they were living and how they were meditating that much, I meditate for five minutes and it is much better. One-pointedness of the mind, if can be achieved for a moment, it's a bliss. This is Kal Yug. It has a beauty. You do in the morning (Sadhana); you get right there the result. You get up in the morning, you meditate, you feel blessed the whole day. You miss one morning, you go through the day, you will realize something is missing. Why is that scene happen? Because you have not changed yourself in the very morning to one factual fact and that is that you are Satya. 'There is no Sat in me. That means there is no energy in me, no potency in me. I am weak.'
Yogi Bhajan, November 17, 1971

This family (3HO) will prosper always because it has no beginning it has no end. It doesn't depend on bunch of people, it depends on everybody and it will continue to depend on everybody. And in return everybody can depend on it. It is a consciousness where we have attached ourselves to a group consciousness and we have detached ourselves equally from our individual selfish consciousness. And when this group will grow the group consciousness will grow, the group tolerance will grow then we will go further to the universal consciousness and that shall be… we'll not tell anybody he is bad, or they are ugly. We'll serve them to clean everybody, we'll help the needy, we'll inspire the one who is down. We'll serve the sick and it is our own that very trip from where from individual consciousness we raised ourselves to group consciousness, from group consciousness we'll raise ourselves to universal consciousness.
Yogi Bhajan, December 19, 1971

"First you have to master yourself and then you will become teachers. Teacher is very open, a public park where anybody can walk in; so teacher has to be very clean. Your conduct has to be crystal clear and you have to be absolutely transparent. Only then can you be a teacher."
Yogi Bhajan, May 7, 1969

Teach what you know, don't teach what you don't know.
Yogi Bhajan

When you don't go within, you go without.
Yogi Bhajan

Your development period is 27 years of age. Your living period is another 27 years. And your dying period is another 27 years. That's how it's proportioned. Your achievement is during the first 25 years. Your time within yourself and with your family is the next 25 years. For the next 25 years you roam the world to share and experience. Then for the next 25 years, you wait to go home. That's how these systems were set.
Yogi Bhajan 7/23/1996, The Master's Touch, Page 39

Sadhana, Aradhana, Prabhupati. Those who do sadhana and do it--they put their whole self into it. Wholehearted sadhana is called aradhana. Prabhupati is you become the master of the Almighty God which created you.
Yogi Bhajan 1/7/1990

There are three values. Feel good. Be good. Do good.
Yogi Bhajan

Our greatest teachers never left behind billions of dollars. They left behind a priceless way of life, a destiny and a distance that can be traveled by everybody and experienced within a lifetime.
Yogi Bhajan

What is maya? Temporary things you think are permanent, permanent things you think are temporary.
Yogi Bhajan 7/15/1981

The Age of Aquarius recognizes no religion, only whether a person is with experience or without experience. Find your spiritual frequency, your spiritual efficiency and your spiritual existence within you.
Yogi Bhajan

The sensory system that will develop automatically out of us will be our archangel protecting us and glorifying us... We'll master ourselves through our service, through our character, through our commitment, and through the most powerful thing that we have-our grace... We will create a new humanity that will have the new sensory system, and thus we will establish the Age of Aquarius.
Yogi Bhajan 8/1/2000

(See Yogi Bhajan's The Self-Sensory Human In The Aquarian Age by Sat Avtar Kaur.)

You have to bounce in life with joy. Your strength lies in your smiles and your songs.
Yogi Bhajan 6/28/1998

You can fight stress with food but the intake, the quality and the quantity must be regular. For the first 18 years, you can eat all the time. Up to age 36, eat four times a day. Up to 54, eat three times a day. Up to 72, eat twice a day. Beyond that, once a day.
Yogi Bhajan 11/17/1993

Conduct must have a connection and it must have a straightforward hope that you are speaking in service, not to control. That's a fundamental definition of communication.
Yogi Bhajan 1/9/1997

There's no relationship between you as a human and your God without identity. And between you and your earth, your surroundings, there's no world without identity. The first word you utter must identify you. It should be your password. Otherwise you will have more pain in your life than happiness.
Yogi Bhajan 7/31/1987

When the mind is backed by the will, the mind is always positive. When it's backed by ego, the mind is always negative. When it is backed by your will, the hand of God will protect you. Miracles will happen.
Yogi Bhajan 7/22/1982

The greatest reward of doing sadhana* (personal spiritual discipline) is that the person becomes incapable of being defeated. Sadhana is a self-victory, and it is a victory over time and space. Getting up in the morning is a victory over time, and doing it (sadhana) is a victory over space.
Yogi Bhajan

Kundalini Yoga will give you Intuitive, Comprehensive, Comparative Mind; it will give it to you.

Kundalini Yoga will give you an all over sky type color. As the sky covers everything, it will cover every aspect of your personality and polarity.

Kundalini Yoga will make out of you a perfect, complete, happy human being.

Kundalini Yoga will dawn on you the secret of how to be Healthy, Happy and Holy.

Kundalini Yoga will give you the prospect and prosperity in any walk of religious life and achievement.

It will develop your undeveloped corners. It will give Grace to the most weak points of your life.

It will give you what you have thought not to achieve.

Of all the sciences so far known to man, this is a science of living as a complete man or a complete woman.
Yogi Bhajan 3/18/1980

*Editor's note: The word Sadhana is derived from the Sanskrit Sa, meaning all, and Dhana, meaning blessings.

“Recite mantra to cleanse the Soul.
Meditate to cleanse the Mind.
Bathe to cleanse the Body.”
Yogi Bhajan

The greatest mantra of the time is "Keep Up". Keep up, you will be kept up. "Keep Up" is not a small mantra. If you ever want to know who you are and where you are, just keep up. The world shall bow to you.
Yogi Bhajan 3/27/1979

America wipes out everything in its passion and its sex and its glory, and it drowns everybody in its drinks. The second miracle you have done is that you have taken the Niaaraa Panth (distinctive form and discipline). You are wearing the Baanaa (gracious, noble attire), you are reading the Baanee (Japjee and other verses of the Guru), and you are understanding how to do Seva (selfless service) and how to do Simran (meditation) from those two, and your excellence is coming out.

America doesn't want excellence, neither in any part of the world, nor in America. There is a handful of people, there are a handful of corporations, they want to totally rule the world inside out and they want to do what they want to do. They are very afraid of you. That's why they don't want you in the army.

Tomorrow perhaps if it comes to them, they will not like you in the United States, but they do not know that we shall rule tomorrow. Things will come to us and these idiots who think they have the whole world in the palm of their hands will come with folded hands and beg the mercy. It is so written in the heavens, so it shall be done on the Earth.
Yogi Bhajan, Espanola, New Mexico, April 24, 1983

Your thinking pattern is based on what you normally speak. If you speak the word of God, your thinking patterns will become divine. The nerves create the patterns of the brain function by the movements of the tongue.
Yogi Bhajan 7/10/1975

The two most important things in your body are the upper palate, which is the base of the hypothalamus,* because the hypothalamus controls the entire nervous system, and the tip of the tongue, which affects the central nerve channel, shushumna. That controls your entire psyche.
Yogi Bhajan Women's Camp 1992 *See Details

You can never go wrong if you sing your holiest of songs, God and me, me and God are One.
Yogi Bhajan

Mostly we see God as a big, terrible, impossible, scary thing. Instead, make God a little friend. God should be nothing more to you than your little teddy bear. If you can do that, God will love you one million times.
Yogi Bhajan 7/15/1987

Somebody asked Guru Nanak, "Why is a musician always with you? And Guru Nanak answered, "The instrument he's playing brings music to my words. For those who have trouble hearing them, the trouble melts into the melody of the words, which are sent to me by my God. He is not just playing the instrument -- he is the instrument for reaching out my words to people."
Yogi Bhajan 11/24/1990

If you give your tomorrow to the hand of the One who created you, you shall have no sorrow. You don't have to come to a spiritual teacher. He may cheat you, misguide you, he may be a fake. Just become your own student.
Yogi Bhajan 11/17/1993

Compassion is for the very strong. Compassion does not come to the weak. People who are unkind, bullies, use rude language, are not strong people. They are very weak people.
Yogi Bhajan 7/31/1987

You don't have to learn to be wise. If you just flow you can be successful. Mother Nature will carry you.
Yogi Bhajan 6/11/1990

According to Yogi Bhajan

I remember Yogi Bhajan talking about the mantra Guru Guru Waheguru Guru Ram Das Guru. He told the story of a man who walked into his class when he was teaching it. After the class, as this man was walking down the sidewalk, a crazy-acting person approached him and begged him to heal him. The man suggested he bow down, like in baby pose. He then touched him on the shoulder and did the Guru Guru Waheguru mantra as best he could remember -- basically jumbled up like "Guru Wahe Ram Guru Das Guru". Then he walked off to do an errand. On coming back that way an hour later, he found the fellow still sitting in baby pose, so he tapped him to see if he was okay. The guy got up, gave him a big hug and thanked him, saying he was totally healed.

The point Yogiji was making is that we only need to recite this mantra once, and whether or not it is pronounced right, healing will happen on the spot. --
SS Guru Prem Kaur Khalsa

In my life I train my mind with the knowledge of perfect harmony in every relationship.
Yogi Bhajan 12/01/1981

Experience yourself and all in you; in that unisonness is the beauty of life. Otherwise you will be a victim of your own perpetual fear.
Yogi Bhajan 6/11/1990

You can see the hand of God working only through intuition, then you do not fear. Intuition is knowledge you see behind the Creator's hand. Otherwise you only see time and space working, and that is very annoying. That is the difference between a man with intuition and without intuition.
Yogi Bhajan 6/11/1990

The Gong is the first and last instrument for the human mind. There is only one thing that can supercede and command the human mind, the sound of the Gong. It is the first sound in the universe, the sound that created this universe. It's the basic creative sound. To the mind, the sound of the Gong is like a mother and father that gave it birth. The mind has no power to resist a Gong that is well played.
Yogi Bhajan

If a woman sits with folded hands in her lap for a few minutes everyday, and feels she is a container so vast that she contains the whole universe, she will never feel weak or have any problems. There is nothing beyond woman except God.
Yogi Bhajan 7/18/1987

Those who do the prayer and give their time in prayer, they are never preyed upon by evil and doubt.
Yogi Bhajan 7/14/1975

Can a child get into meditation and prayer? Children are the best. I had a brother who was meditating when he was three days old. I have seen children who are very meditative.
Yogi Bhajan 7/23/1987

The best medicine that a person can have is the knowledge and experience that he can swim through every tide and change of the time. If you have the mental competency to deal with every situation that arises, then you are very happy, very healthy, and very well-balanced person.
Yogi Bhajan 11/17/1993

You must search yourself, compare yourself in strategy and find out through your planning what God is, so you can trust God. Wake in the morning with trust of God. Come home at evening trusting God. Sleep at night being God.
Yogi Bhajan 11/17/1993

If you can rhythmically slow down your breath to four breaths a minute, you can indirectly control your mind and slow it down from its obnoxious behavior.
Yogi Bhajan 7/23/1998

Life... It's all about breathing.

Click here for Breath of Fire.

The pelvic bone is where the breath of life is triggered and
where the breathing power of the pranic body is found. The lungs
are cleansing processors, the diaphragm is an aid to that process, and
it is through the the spinal column that the energy flows. -- Yogi Bhajan

The total sum of you is equal to how you project out and how thoughts propel in. If thoughts propel in, you run after neurotic, subconscious, unconscious fantasies. It is called: "Interlock of the propelled thought." You cannot get out of this unless you add a meditative mind.
Yogi Bhajan 11/17/1987

To cross this ocean of the universe, you have to see the Unseen between these two eyes which can see. You have to know the unknown, you have to hear the unheard. That is naad, that's the rhythm, that's the psychological, sociological, biological self of you which is only in you, which you can develop.
Yogi Bhajan 3/27/1979

The question is, "Are you spiritual or are you not?" The Truth is you are. The reality is you don't believe it.
Yogi Bhajan 4/17/1990

There are three things you cannot hide: smell of the garlic, fragrance of the flower, and the wisdom of the teacher.
Yogi Bhajan 1/10/1997

You cannot be trusted if you misdirect. If you cannot put yourself in the person you talk to, in his or her position exactly, then you cannot think, you cannot work it out, you cannot guide.
Yogi Bhajan 10/22/1985

Yogi Bhajan 10/16/1997

Adversity, calamity and misfortune, these are three sisters. They only come to visit those who react to them. Opportunity, fortune and good luck, these are three sisters, too. They come to visit those who are calm, quiet and peaceful.
Yogi Bhajan 11/2000

Life is simple. Life is not complicated. Life is only one thing: Identify yourself.
Yogi Bhajan

The greatest education is the science of self. The science of self and self-awareness is the highest knowledge a man can posses because then you can pull yourself through all circumstances.
Yogi Bhajan

All training and all knowledge is meant for only one purpose, and that purpose is very simple and clear. That you may be in a position to control your mental self as well as your physical self. The Way To Develop Your Intuition
According To Yogi Bhajan

Dhrib Dhristi Lochina Karma Kriya

Yogi Bhajan, October 10, 1973

NOTE: The practice of Kundalini Yoga begins by Tuning In.
Each session starts with 'Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo', and
ends with May The Long Time Sun Shine Upon You.

"You cannot live by feelings and emotions;
you have to live by your intuition and consciousness."

Posture: Sit with a straight spine or sit on chair with feet flat on floor. The shoulders and hips should be in line. Now, lock the tips of the front teeth together.

Eyes: Look at the tip of the nose towards the chest.

Tongue: Touches the upper palate (this should occur automatically within about 1 minute).

Mentally project the mantra 'Saa Taa Naa Maa' out from the third eye. Beam it out, creating an internal harmony. Continue for 31 minutes.

Dhrib Dhristi Lochina Karma Kriya is the "action of acquiring the insight of the future." This powerful yet simple meditation was first taught on the eve of a full moon. When practiced at this time, the effects are great as the subconscious mind is fully open to the vibratory action of the meditation. The pituitary gland is stimulated to secrete, which develops your intuition.

Although most meditations and Kriyas require long periods of practice and mastery, it is possible to master this one in a single or several sittings. This is explained by the wide range of individual differences between yoga practitioners and the uniqueness of this particular meditation.

Time: This meditation should be practiced for at least 31 minutes at a sitting. The minimum time is 15 minutes, and to master it you should practice for one and one-half hours. 3 hours practice will open up the psychic capacities.

Effects: If you honestly practice this kriya the following things will happen: 1) your eyes will have the power to heal anyone; 2) your words will have the power to penetrate deeply; 3) you will learn to talk inspiringly and your words will always represent the Truth of a given situation (this is known as "vac siddhi"); 4) you will be able to project your personality or your bodily sensations anywhere; 5) you will always know the consequence of any sequence that you may start.

Total Time: 15-90 minutes

All knowledge, all scriptures, all wealth, all environments, all energy is meant to perform duty. When righteous action is done, God is pleased.
Yogi Bhajan 8/6/1975

Any woman on this planet who values herself as a woman is great. She is a giver of life. And when you are a giver of life, what more is there?
Yogi Bhajan

When a human acts under impulse, as an animal, that human shall never be redeemed. You have to act under intuition. If that is not developed, then you have to act under your spirit.
Yogi Bhajan

Prosperity message for the Age of Aquarius. Prosperity, prosperity, prosperity is perpetual with people who prefer to be penetrating, prepared and purposeful. But prosperity only comes to those who are trustworthy, deliver, and are content and consistent. Basically it boils down to commitment. If you put your soul into anything you can plug the whole world. It will be yours. You can sweep prosperity with your commitment. Contain, commit, and be continuous.
Yogi Bhajan

It takes the same energy to complain as it does to compliment. When there is a short circuit there is a complaint and when the energy is flowing there is a compliment.
Yogi Bhajan

Don't just talk to a person. Don't just befriend a person. Don't just shake hands with a person. Save that person. Elevate them.
Yogi Bhajan 4/4/1997

Yogi Bhajan with family

The radiance of your spirit can be measured according to how the name of God vibrates within you and around you... so give 10% of your time to God in the ambrosial hours of the morning... 3 am - 6 am.
Yogi Bhajan

May God bless you with purity and piety, which are the best for armoring oneself in the coming Age. May you be fulfilled in your thoughts; may you be fulfilled in your endeavors and make yourself a life fulfilled with compassion, kindness and care.

The fundamental law of Truth is that it penetrates through all darkness.
Yogi Bhajan

If your word does not mean anything, your prayer does not mean anything either.
Yogi Bhajan

The strength of the man does not lie in what he has, but what he can give. Only those can give who have the capacity to tap into the Universe. If the Universe is not in your mind, your heart cannot give.
Yogi Bhajan

Yogi Bhajan 4/1989

Let us sincerely sit down, talk to our heart and head, speak with our neutral mind, and see what is our path. And let us walk on that path, totally conquering our mind, so that the world can trust us, believe us, and be with us.
Yogi Bhajan 10/8/1998

If for eleven minutes you do Sodarshan Chakra Kriya, it will keep your chakras from slipping. If you are kind enough to do Bowing Jaap Sahib, it will take away your sickness forever.

Whatever you say consciously, your mind should listen consciously. You will be surprisingly successful.
Yogi Bhajan 6/1/1983

Man is a social animal, but does not know how to form society within his self. You see and feel your social contact outside, and that is called pain. When you get your social contact inside, that is called pleasure.
Yogi Bhajan 2/28/1992

Our limited mind is our enemy and our unlimited mind is our best friend. When you become a slave of the mind, it will limit you. When you use it, it will bring you the whole universe.
Yogi Bhajan 7/10/1975

You have to become learned, experienced and candid and you have to show steadfastness of your expertise. Then people will trust you, and you will not need to hassle. Things shall come to you wherever you are.

Yogi Bhajan 2/5/1992

What we have done in our practical life is to separate God from us. As God is separate, God's house is separate. Isn't a whole day a Temple? Isn't a whole life a Temple?
Yogi Bhajan 5/3/2000

Brush your hair, front to back to front, three times. Your entire personality and energy will change. Using a wooden comb is best.
Yogi Bhajan 9/9/1995

If you become your own teacher, prosperity will be there. Good things and good ideas will come to you.
Yogi Bhajan 1/10/1997

You are a human being. You are suppose to have simple food. Not food that is tasty but food that can be digested and come out of you in twenty-four hours.
Yogi Bhajan 9/9/1995

I am requesting everybody to live without your hang-ups. We have to move, we have to clear our blocks,we have to shed our fears. If you cannot do it with everyone, at least do it with someone whom you consider as your benefactor, who loves you, who is your teacher, who wishes you well, who wants you to open up and who wants you to realize Truth. At least with that individual be honest and clear.

Yogi Bhajan 6/21/2002

If we take judging ourselves and others out of our life, we will mostly be living in paradise.
Yogi Bhajan

Why We Wear White
According to Yogi Bhajan

We wear white because it's a simple scientific fact that every piece of matter or material has a foot and a half aura. Every animal has a three and a half foot aura. Every human has a nine foot aura. And if we wear the cotton and we wear the white, this color therapy gives us one extra foot of aura. So, I trust my students will behave right, but in case they behave like animals, they will still have a margin, an edge. And that is what it's all about. You have to wear a natural fiber and you have to wear white. It's a pure color therapy and it's called auric color therapy.
Yogi Bhajan, 3HO Beads of Truth, 1981 Spring Edition

NOTE: Properly tying a Turban head covering enables a person to command the sixth center, the Agia Chakra. Covering the head stabilizes the cerebral matter and the twenty-six parts of your brain, which are interlocked with the neurological system and the electromagnetic field. Covering one's head creates a focus of the functional circuit of the hemispheres, and tunes up the neurological system. The whole head should be covered, not just the Crown Chakra. Any head covering that covers the whole head is acceptable; white natural fabric, such as cotton, is the ideal. See GoodGuysWearTurbans.com.

Life is a balance. The swings in the mind are there to give you experience and let you discover the You within you. For all those who will praise and recognize you, there may be equal number who wants to slander you. That balance and swing lets your standard be tested. You cannot hold to something external. You must find your own depth and test it, confirm it. So, calamity is not a bad thing, it is a right thing.
Yogi Bhajan

It is my feeling that now you are ready. Keep walking. Feel God is with you, and understand that life is an opportunity we must not miss.
Yogi Bhajan 6/21/2002

Your mental process comes from two sides; one is love, other is fear. I can guarantee you do not know love. Fear, you all know.
Yogi Bhajan 6/7/1989

The purpose of life is to reach God within you. Try it so you can be happy, rich and prosperous, beautiful, bountiful and recognizable.
Yogi Bhajan 9/28/2002

A time will come when you shall meet your teacher for a tenth of a second. When you see your teacher, you will feel it in your heart, not your head. That is the end, beginning and middle of it.
Yogi Bhajan 9/22/2002

You fight between yourselves like cats and dogs. A human is not suppose to fight. There is no wisdom in fighting. You create conflict for emotional satisfaction and because of your sexual misgivings.
Yogi Bhajan 6/19/1998

When you come upon a difficult task... start.
Yogi Bhajan

When you will become nothing; you shall see everything, you shall feel everything, you shall know everything and you shall command everything.
Yogi Bhajan 3/12/1989

Yogi Bhajan 3/27/1979

You cannot live by feelings and emotions; you have to live by your intuition and consciousness.
Yogi Bhajan 7/11/1995

Yogi Bhajan 12/31/1991

You must have manners so a person cannot doubt you, and cannot be betrayed. Then you win the trust of heart and head at the same time. That is what we call manners.
Yogi Bhajan 4/1997

The Siri Guru Granth Sahib is not paper; it's not a book. It is bound in the spirit, the language and prayers of those who conquered their minds, and enriched themselves enough to become Siri Guru Granth. Give yourself one second when you listen and before you speak. In one second you can see the light. And if you stop just one second, you will have total effectiveness because then the third eye, the Ajna, will act.

What is hate? When love is not maintained, when people don't stand under.
Yogi Bhajan 8/6/1975

Take one little thread, another and another and twist it -- it becomes a rope. The power of that rope is many, many times more than that of one thread. In the same way we can bring our psyche, spirit, mental muscle and nervous system and position and being into a very consolidated intertwine.
Yogi Bhajan 5/3/2000

When your existence does not count, something else starts counting. That is the beginning of your transcendence from physical egomaniac presence.
Yogi Bhajan 3/27/1979

Everybody wants to get their palm read. Isn't it amazing? You all want to know your tomorrow and you don't care to know your today.
Yogi Bhajan 9/10/1995

Yogi Bhajan 3/16/1981

We forget God because we think our limit is this Earth. That is our limiting mind we apply. In reality we are here to experience the Infinity.
Yogi Bhajan 7/10/1975

Yogi Bhajan 7/10/1975

You don't have to remember anybody; all you have to remember is you. God rotates this Earth; God shall take care of your routine.

Service creates permanent love and friendship. Self-discipline creates grace. And the neutral mind creates wisdom. These are the rules of life.
Yogi Bhajan 7/11/1995

Yogi Bhajan 3/12/1989

As long as you exist, God does not. When you do not exist, God does. Under the ego nothing is experienced.

Yogi Bhajan 5/11/1991

Yogi Bhajan 11/2000

This Dharma is not personal. It is not anybody's property; it is not anybody's affair. It is a combination of people who will work for the future. Yogi Bhajan 10/8/1998

No one else can limit you. If you want to limit yourself, you can. Otherwise the entire resources of the Universe are yours to use.
Yogi Bhajan 4/1989

In this path of life, you have to call on your impersonal. When you call on your personal self, then "I" has to come through with "my" problems, insecurities, handicaps. But when you call on your impersonal, then you call on your spirit, your Infinity. When you call on your Infinity you can come through anything, you shall never be handicapped. That is how you will enter the Age of Aquarius.
Yogi Bhajan 12/20/1994

What is karma? Half finished actions.
Yogi Bhajan 8/6/1975

When a woman limits herself, there is no peace.
Yogi Bhajan 7/10/1975

The ego is psychologically and biologically meant to sustain our identity. It is not our purpose in life.
Yogi Bhajan 9/10/1995

If you just go with the flow of your spirit, your mind will just serve you and life will be creative, elevated, beautiful and authentic.
Yogi Bhajan 6/1/1983

Love is consistent memory. With each breath, it comes, it lives, it excels in you.
Yogi Bhajan 3/12/1989

You are the Master of your destiny, you are the prediction of your horoscope, you are the leader of your day, you are the light of your life.
Yogi Bhajan 6/1/1983

Wherever you are, if you study to be healthy, happy and holy you will end up finding the Dharma.
Yogi Bhajan 3/27/1979

God is the realization within self. Projecting that realization into practical action makes us God.
Yogi Bhajan 5/7/1969

God made you as best as He-She-It could, would or should. Do not make doodoo of yourself. The breath of life is to be exalted. Walk tall and feel free. Have no fear, no vengeance.
Yogi Bhajan 9/22/2002

If you flow with the flow of life, you will be healthy, happy, holy, prosperous, intuitive, well-respected and understood. Otherwise you are trouble to yourself, your neighbors, your pets and worst of all to your children.
Yogi Bhajan 6/19/1998

Every day, you have to look at yourself and feel that you are getting a little better. It does not matter whether you are eight or eighty years old.
Yogi Bhajan 9/28/2002

If a person in his lifetime has not achieved the progress to conceive or perceive or experience what he or she is, everything else is totally fake.
Yogi Bhajan 10/16/1973

If you train to mentally send your white cells to where your red blood cells are sick, you can heal yourself miraculously.
Yogi Bhajan 9/9/1995

Why We Are Vegetarians
According to Yogi Bhajan

No matter how good the diet is, we tend to exceed the self cleaning capacity of our bodies. Uric acid, (a byproduct of meat consumption), calcium crystals, and many other wastes and poisons get stored in tissues and joints. They make us stiff and may cause many diseases. In Kundalini Yoga, muscle stretching along with internal massage bring waste back into circulation so that the lungs, intestines, kidneys and skin are able to remove it.
Yogi Bhajan

NOTE: In each and every environment, good health and sustained wellness is dependant on the rapid removal of waste. In terms of our personal health, one needs to void solid waste two to three times a day or once between each meal, without straining, in order to maintain basic health and wellness. Toxins can be harmless if removed quickly from the body.
See IDoNotEatDeadAnimals.com.

The banana is the only complete food (except for Vitamin C) and it has sufficient potassium to keep your potassium and magnesium in balance. The moment they are in balance, then calcium digests in the body perfectly and your bone structure and mental structure becomes right.
Yogi Bhajan 9/9/1995

When you take even a calculated risk of overusing yourself, even though time and space demands it, you have to pay for it. That's called Karma.
Yogi Bhajan 5/3/2000

Put your hand on the top of your head and bless yourself.
Yogi Bhajan 6/7/1989

The person who meditates knows when to change, how much to change, why to change, what to change for.
Yogi Bhajan 5/11/1991

When you can conquer the rhythm of breath, you can conquer your mental attitude as well as your behavior. When you can do that, you are perfect.
Yogi Bhajan 5/7/1969

Knowing is not enough, you have to know what you know and then you have to know what you don't know. When you know what you don't know, that will give you the experience and the conviction of life and then you can have the performance of life. You will be successful.
Yogi Bhajan 8/6/1975

Let us understand the Age of Aquarius is upon us. It is the age of knowledge. It is the age of giving people tranquility, peace, dignity, divinity, grace and sharing.
Yogi Bhajan 8/25/1996

Let all be blessed in their own essence, in their own honor, in their own commitment. May the creator bless all creatures in equality and reality and knowledge. Sat Nam.
Yogi Bhajan 1/10/1999

What God gave you, keep that as a gift and do not shift it; then you do not create a rift between you and God.
Yogi Bhajan 12/20/1994

Make no excuses for your desire to be prosperous; it is a divine desire that should be given divine expression.
Yogi Bhajan 4/1989

You must have the attitude to eliminate yourself completely so that you can just focus on the general good of another person.
Yogi Bhajan 2/28/1992

Everybody wants to feel good - it is not a sin. Just follow the path of wisdom, not the path of the mind.
Yogi Bhajan 7/8/1981

All your personal and financial problems are because you do not care for your spiritual strength. You have wasted energy on petty things. Cut out all that burns you out so that your light can keep burning forever.
Yogi Bhajan 10/16/1997

We need to calculate our total strength and serve people from our hearts. If it is heart to heart, you will never be handicapped.
Yogi Bhajan 11/1999

We are the boat keepers of the incoming age and we welcome people from every walk of life. That's why Guru has blessed us to be a combination of all traditions: Judeo-Christian, Islamic, Brahmin, Buddhist, Anglo, Aryan; you will find us united at the feet of the Guru. See Religions.
Yogi Bhajan 2/11/1996

Sometimes you think God is a big guy in the sky with 30 hands and 40 legs who does everything. That is not true. Whatever your known is, that is you. Whatever your unknown is, that is God.
Yogi Bhajan 7/10/1975

In the rhythm of your life you have to create harmony. And harmony can only come if your motivated life is subjected to your intelligence and your conscious personality.
Yogi Bhajan 10/29/1984

We are born as spiritual beings. We have to become human. A human is one who balances light and darkness. This is what life is about.
Yogi Bhajan 9/22/2002

In the spiritual world you cater to nothing, not even to yourself. Live in the spiritual world because life wants you to live. Every moment you are requested by life, "My Lord, please live." That is the spiritual world.
Yogi Bhajan 3/27/1979

You have to conquer your laziness and ego. Insincere effort is a treachery with your own self, because you are not trying to reach an experience.
Yogi Bhajan

Just remember, from today onward promise to speak sacredly, to live sacredly and deal with life sacredly. Prosperity will be yours forever and through your generation.
Yogi Bhajan 8/29/1985

The time has come for you to be you -- a beautiful, bountiful, blissful human.
Yogi Bhajan 9/10/1995

You have never learned that if you give time to the spirit and soul you can be more excellent than all the professions in the world. Because as all rivers come to the ocean, every profession seeks spiritual guidance.
Yogi Bhajan 1/10/1997

You are here. Be so!
Yogi Bhajan 9/28/2002

You are never to old to become a saint. All it takes is a turning of the wheel of thought, a committing yourself within your self. All it takes is committing to the world that from this day on your words are just to exalt God. God shall exalt you on this Earth.
Yogi Bhajan 10/16/1973

Let us be virtuous and share our values with the world so we can bring peace to ourselves and to all those around us.
Yogi Bhajan 6/21/2002

You are never to old to become a saint. All it takes is a turning of the wheel of thought, a committing yourself within your self. All it takes is committing to the world that from this day on your words are just to exalt God. God shall exalt you on this Earth.
Yogi Bhajan 10/16/1973

When you take a cold shower you open up your capillaries in exactly five minutes and your chance of getting a common cold will be very small.
Yogi Bhajan 9/9/1995

God is nothing but your own inner consciousness. Now I will agree with you that you cannot always feel this God, but that is because you think that you are separate from God. We call it Maya. Maya is the illusion of separateness: it is the quicksand of this life. Sometimes we sink into this quicksand and then we need a hook; we need some guidance to help us pull ourselves out so that we can continue our journey. The hook that we use to do this is called the Guru.
Yogi Bhajan, Summer Solstice, 1976

The shocking Truth about prosperity is that it is shockingly right instead of shockingly wrong to be prosperous.
Yogi Bhajan 4/1989

The storm is on us. Human beings are getting emptier inside, and we can't face the challenges of the pressure. Everyone must meditate and clear their minds.
Yogi Bhajan 1/8/1999

It is your duty to speak the Truth to your children and stand to it. Don't lie to them, don't cater to them. When you cater to the child you are trying to cover up and child has the super psychic power to see behind it. The moment they uncover you they will not respect you. Therefore, it is your duty to be straight with your own born.
Yogi Bhajan 8/6/1975

One thing you cannot handle is simplicity. If you are given a simple way to do something you won't. You don't trust anything which is simple.
Yogi Bhajan 6/7/1989

Regardless and reward less, duty must be done. When regardless and reward less duty is done, God is experience. But if duty is done with regards and within rewards, then ego is experienced.
Yogi Bhajan 8/6/1975

If your actions are base on kindness and compassion, you should be judged kindly and compassionately. If your actions are based on selfishness, you should be judged accordingly.
Yogi Bhajan 5/11/1991

Grace will come to you, glory will come to you, happiness will come to you. Everything will come to you when you will act like God. God gives, never takes anything. God loves everyone. God lives in you. God guards you.
Yogi Bhajan 5/7/1969

Attitude of gratitude brings you opportunities beyond your concept. And when the prayer becomes the vibration of the soul, mind, and self, we can create a miracle.
Yogi Bhajan 12/8/1989

Those who belong are those who long to belong. And the sense of longing is the self-ecstasy; it has no barriers, no walls and it does not end.
Yogi Bhajan 1/10/1997

Any offering given in the name of God multiplies faster than time and space. Contribute one-tenth to your higher being. Give yourself a chance.
Yogi Bhajan 1/16/1900

Virtues are virtues and wishes are wishes. Every human being wants more virtues, and wishes for much more than virtues. The question is: how to have it. You can go to a restaurant and have a thirty-six-course meal and enjoy your evening. That is possible. The question is -- can your stomach take it or not? The question is not how you live -- you have the right to live, as you want. The question is: are you living within your understanding of who you are? The question is not whether you are virtuous or wishful. The question is: have you understood your commitment and the depth of your commitment?

A full life is when a person has his commitment and an understanding of his commitment, and even death cannot change it. Guru Nanak had a commitment -- death couldn't change it. Jesus Christ had a commitment - death couldn't change it. Moses had a commitment. For forty years he carried the Commandments through the desert. No change. When someone has spiritual ecstasy and elevation -- forget about temptation -- even death can't change him. Then such a man creates a legacy. Then man dies and legacy lives. This is the only beauty granted to a human being.

Between a person and God there are two paths, the path of fate and the path of destiny. Those who create a distance from their destiny shall fall into the path of fate. When you walk on the path of fate, you may feel very happy and egomaniacal, but when death comes, you will be lost again. When you walk on the path of destiny, it doesn't matter what distance you cover, when the fatal blow of death comes, you shall be liberated. This is the difference.

All the chanting, the religious rituals and the religious ceremonies we do are for that last moment: "Was I true to my Dharma, or was I not?" because right before death, there are moments when the trinity of you, your destiny and your fate are judged. It is your decision. Nobody else can do it.

It is the distinct nature of the soul that it comes on the earth to deliver you forever by merging in the Creator. We call it God. There is a price. That price to pay is the science of Dharma: the teachings dictate, and art of living is given in whichever Dharma it is that you follow. You can change to any religion, to any form and shape. But what matters is whether you have understood reality or not. You are a human. Have you understood what "human" means? That matters. Whether you are a good person, a bad person, a rich person, poor person, religious person or a fake - doesn't mean a thing.
Yogi Bhajan 4/24/1991

Don't follow the mind, follow the grace. Keep the dignity, be divine. You will win.
Yogi Bhajan 7/8/1981

Fear is your own limitation. When you apply the brake to your soul with your own limitations, that is fear. If fear saturates the self, it becomes frustration. Then it becomes anger.
Yogi Bhajan 7/10/1975

In the beginning, the middle and the end it is you and you only. So live well in your inner peace and inner strength. And when you feel weak, call on your soul, your best friend.
Yogi Bhajan 9/10/1995

Never compete, never compare and never confuse yourself with everything here. You have come from God. Be with your God and see the glory of God in all, big and small. God shall be with you.
Yogi Bhajan 4/21/1996

The question is: Are you spiritual or are you not? The Truth is you are. The reality is you don't believe it.
Yogi Bhajan 4/17/1990

When joy and faith come, then one commits, lives through commitment and feels the fulfillment of the commitment. Then life is fulfilled.
Yogi Bhajan 5/26/1975

It is good to fill only half the stomach when you eat, because a loaded stomach puts pressure on the heart, the diaphragm and the longs. The stomach is not meant to be fully loaded-our suspension is not built that way.
Yogi Bhajan 2/11/1977

Your strength lies in your smiles and your songs.
Yogi Bhajan 6/28/1998

It is not how good, how spiritual you look or how wonderful you appear. It is what is inside that matters.
Yogi Bhajan 9/22/2002

Commitment is knowledge within itself. You don't commit to get the knowledge. When you commit, knowledge comes to you. If you can commit and hold on to it, there is nothing more you have to learn.
Yogi Bhajan 10/16/73

If you do not know what wisdom is, the only thing you will have is your neurosis.
Yogi Bhajan

You must know that you have the right to heal yourself. Each one of you can heal your tired brain and your fatigued body.
Yogi Bhajan 9/9/1995

If you appreciate your life, if you appreciate your job, if you appreciate yourself, if you appreciate your surreptitiousness or rich, whatever they are -- you are divine. The principal is that you are divine when you appreciate whatever you are. You must appreciate your job, no matter how dirty it is. You must appreciate your misery no matter how painful it is. The moment you start appreciating misery it will run away. You don't have to do anything. Misery does not need appreciation. Misery needs to give you pain. The purpose of misery is to put you through pain. As soon as you start appreciating misery, its purpose is lost. How is misery going to be there?
Yogi Bhajan 6/27/1984 (Woman's Camp)

This is the day to call upon yourself -- beyond politics, beyond social, persona, sensual, sexual, all needs; to understand. You have to serve and you have to lead to surround all other humans to uplift their souls.
Yogi Bhajan 1/15/1997

"I must accept myself the way I am made by God." That's the first positive statement a human can make to him or herself.
Yogi Bhajan 11/22/1977

The Case Against Using Pacifiers
According to Yogi Bhajan

With all the medical and scientific reasons given pro and con pacifiers, let me reiterate that this is a Kundalini Yoga group, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, and he said we should never put a pacifier in a baby's mouth. His main point was that it adversely affects a child's brain to suck and receive nothing. I have also seen, as a mother and daycare provider, that fussy toddlers and pretoddlers who have been overly silenced by a pacifier are inhibited in baby talk to the point that they put the pacifier in their mouth by themselves, inhibiting verbal responses and speech development in general.

My feeling is, parents and caregivers do this for themselves to have peace and quiet, rather than for the true welfare of the child, who needs to learn that true comfort comes from within. Naptime swaddling is the best pacifer, for it turns a child inwards to enjoy a deep and blessed sleep. -- SS Guru Prem Kaur Khalsa

Make no excuse for your desire to be prosperous; it is a divine desire that should be given divine expression.
Yogi Bhajan 4/1989

Falling into prayer is exactly the same as falling in love. It is an infinite fall; you never come out of it. In all of human existence, these two experiences are the highest.
Yogi Bhajan

Spirit has no end and no beginning. A spiritual person shall not draw the line. A spiritual person shall not judge what is right and what is wrong. A spiritual person will always aspire to make other people feel right, feel good.
Yogi Bhajan 7/24/1988

If you cannot see God in all, you cannot see God at all. Claim God and stop blaming. Try to help. Try to be. And the fantastic situation is, God will come trough.
Yogi Bhajan 4/23/1997

Those who live for their lineage destroy their family and their lineage. Those who live for their legacy, where all will be remembered, will be light for others.
Yogi Bhajan 6/27/1993

A person who has a teacher is corrected each time because, if you are not corrected, and you don't have a tolerance to be corrected, your neurosis will eat you up like termites.
Yogi Bhajan 4/23/1997

Nobody is complete. Everybody has a cavity. One may have a complete personality, but still have a throbbing heart, which doesn’t rest. If you can reach this always-moving heart, you can move anybody. Whenever you start going head to head you are creating a clash because it is the habit of the head to clash. If somebody is all in his head, get to the heart. If somebody is all in his head and you get to the head, then you are playing a game. If you can’t play it, then you will blow it.
Yogi Bhajan 10/5/73

Watch your heart and watch your head. Watch your heart and watch your head in relation to others. If the heart gets stuck, the head will get stuck automatically. When somebody pounces on your heart, use your head. When somebody pounces on your head, see the heart. Then you can always balance out your life. It is a practical way of living.
Yogi Bhajan 10/5/1973

Don’t repeat mistakes. It will empty your life. Don’t feel sorry. It will empty the joy of victory. Plan graciously before you play your hand.
Yogi Bhajan

Losing a friend or facing an enemy is sometimes purely circumstantial. Things do happen because of time and space. Keep moving -- Otherwise, you will jam the traffic of life.
Yogi Bhajan

If you need God’s help in your life, be graceful and God shall be grateful to help you. How you are known will not depend on your demand, it will depend on your commitments.
Yogi Bhajan

Every life has a purpose and strength to process a pathway to success. Prayer is the power. Meditation is the guidance, and love is the strength.
Yogi Bhajan

Every life has a purpose and strength to process a pathway to success. Prayer is the power. Meditation is the guidance, and love is the strength.
Yogi Bhajan

Marriage is to lose your self into one another. It is the process of amalgamation. If you put copper and zinc together, you'll end up with a new alloy -- brass. There is neither copper nor zinc. In the institution of marriage two people become totally inter-merged. They lose their basic properties and come out with a common alloy, which is socially known as a married couple, with totally different virtues and different allocations of duties in life.
Yogi Bhajan

First consider life is a play, and take an overall view of the play. Then, take an overall view of yourself. Define the mission you are undertaking, and the mission you are going to achieve. Understand that a mortal must become immortal. Whatever you do must endure to keep guiding coming generations.
Yogi Bhajan

The art of being smart is to be small, which can contain all. The art of success is to answer the call of duty with grace and compassion. The art of happiness is to serve all, and all shall serve you.
Yogi Bhajan

If you want to think about everything with the head, you won’t make it. Everything is not head and everything is not heart. Passion and compassion, advantage and sacrifice. They are the interrelated facets of human action.
Yogi Bhajan 10/5/1973

There's no fault in us. Nobody on this earth can be unhappy. It is that prejudice that we want to be on one side. Then we become judgmental. When we become judgmental, we start testing -- we are not trusting. When we are not trusting, we are unhappy.
Yogi Bhajan 10/5/1996

Don’t worry about tomorrow. To face it you shall have to become today, and you are facing today very well. Tomorrow shall be another day to face.
Yogi Bhajan

Who is right and who is wrong? Don’t get into that problem. See that you don’t place any burden on yourself. Live light. Don’t put the weight of karma on you. Let your impulse always be shining, adjusting and calling. Don’t become uptight and don’t put up any blocks. To put blocks against your own vibration is the worst thing you can do to yourself. Whosoever will do this to oneself shall never find the Self. The Light of God shall always show you the way. It’s a very simple and very honest way of living on the earth.
Yogi Bhajan 10/5/1973

Wisdom has no criteria. Stupidity has no age. Woman has one defense, which is a crossbow between her humility and her grace. Beyond that she has no armor.
Yogi Bhajan

If a human being does not know how to be a human being, what advantage does he gain by being human? If you cannot adjust the impulse of your brain, and if you cannot coordinate your impulse of the brain with the signal impulse of the other personality, how are you going to create a relationship? I have always said, “understand,” “Stand under,” if you want to live in harmony. Stand under each other. I understand you. You understand me. Stand under me. I stand under you. This is how life goes. Nobody can take advantage of you. Nobody can take advantage of me. People have the right to get into your holes. Block them well. Guard them well. There is no such thing as taking advantage of someone. Who takes advantage of whom? There is a saying in Punjabi. “Guard your own house. Don’t call others a thief.”
Yogi Bhajan 10/5/1973

There is no tragedy worse than the way you feel it. There is no poverty worse than when you cannot give. There is no misfortune worse than your broken word. There is no gruesome sin worse than you betraying your own trust. And there is no insanity worse than when you let down yourself or a friend.
Yogi Bhajan

Anybody who wants to rise must pay for it. If you want to levitate your personality, then the art of sacrifice has to be mastered. It is only in giving that you receive. That is the law of conscious existence, for any person at any stage of mind. If someone only wants to get and does not want to give, it won’t work out for him.

Gurdwara Security and Safety

Act without fear
Act without anger
Act to defend the weak
Act to protect the innocent.
The essence of the Sikh warrior.

"Don't secure me, secure my environments." Siri Singh Sahib

"In Prosperity three things work: Security, Security and Security.
Because Security manifests Prosperity. Security manifests the entire
manifestation. Because Security is the Rule of Harmony." Siri Singh Sahib

"It is a Sikh's sacred duty, without fear or anger, to defend the
weak and protect the innocent." SantSipahiAdvisoryTeam.com

"Forgiveness doesn't mean you forget what happened...
If something is serious and it is necessary to take counter-
measures, you have to take counter-measures." Dalai Lama

"Circumstances cannot be allowed to preclude the implementation
of adequate safety and security measures." Interior-Guard.com

Why do we need to secure environments? See The 12 Signs of Kali Yuga.

Compiled by Sant Sipahi Advisory Team

Monitor all activities occurring in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib as well as any other activities in order to maintain a safe, hazard-free environment, and a peaceful, respectful Gurdwara decorum.

Assist Sangat members in the performance of their worship and other activities, especially to include the arrival and departure of families with young children, giving aid and comfort to the elderly and the infirm, and greeting visitors.

Take direct Protective and/or Defensive action in the event of emergency circumstances such as fire and emergency medical response, disruptive or disorderly activity, or any act of aggression occurring within or around the Gurdwara or amongst Sangat members, and ensure security of building perimeter (doors and windows) while maintaining appropriate access for Sangat members and guests.

Gather and disseminate intelligence data, and subsequently alert Sangat members, and appropriate local authorities to the existence of issues or circumstances involving imminent or potential risk to the security of the Guru, Sangat members, or Gurdwara property.

Interface with and assist Local Fire and Medical Emergency or Law Enforcement Response Team members in order to maintain appropriate and respectful decorum in any emergency conditions occurring in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib or upon the Gurdwara property, circumstances permitting.

NOTE: General Protocols For Gurdwara Sevadars are intended to be general in nature as opposed to specific since these apply to the commonalities of all Gurdwaras.

Special Operating Protocols or SOPs should be formulated and implemented by respective Sangat leaders after consultation with local First Responders, i.e., Fire, Medical Emergency, Law Enforcement or other agencies. These Special Operating Protocols then will reflect conditions peculiar to local circumstances, which may vary according to any unique layout, structural, or geographical, economic, or technical requirements.

In addition, each community should contact their local First Responders, especially Fire Prevention and Law Enforcement Agencies, for a comprehensive risk assessment survey of Gurdwara property, and management policies and procedures to include a comprehensive Safety and Security Audit. Audits may possibly be provided free of charge, and should include procedures related to the following issues:

a) Fire Prevention and Emergency Evacuation
b) Medical Emergency Response and First-aid Training
c) Active Shooter Response and Defender Training
d) Safe Room Implementation
e) 'Refuse To Be a Victim' Training

For assistance, call 800-528-0413 Ext. 354 Eastern, or click here. For security skills training, see RamDhanSingh.com.

Security does not happen by accident!

Security is those actions or systems, which prevent or minimize
the occurrence of adverse events within specific environments.
The most effective security is preventative as well as proactive,
and serves to minimize any risk to life, property or environments.

American Sikhs are free to pursue happiness, but there's no guarantee we will achieve it.

SPECIAL NOTE: American Sikhs are free to pursue happiness, but there's no guarantee we will achieve it. We can view the subject of Security as an unpleasant, even terrifying concept, or as a fearless, even exhilarating exercise in courage. We can choose to be passive, wimpy victims, or proactive, fearless survivors. To those members of the Sadh Sangat who choose to remain in denial with regard to matters of Security and Safety, who either claim that Gurdwara Security is unnecessary, or who dismiss any thought of improving Gurdwara Security, I suggest that you not only recall the tragic events of the August 5, 2012 Gurdwara assault in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, the Sandy Hook Elementary School killings in Newtown, Connecticut, December 14, 2012, and the U.S. Navy Yard massacre of September 16, 2013, but that you recall the days of Operation Blue Star, the tragic assault on the Guru in Amritsar, India, June 1-6, 1984, a week which will live in infamy... the event that involved the desecration of the Golden Temple, and the destruction of the Akal Takht. (See video.) Going back much farther, remember Aurangzeb?

Beadbi of Siri Guru Granth Sahib

Keep in mind also that the Siri Singh Sahib of Sikh Dharma established a policy whereby a Security and Safety Sevadar is posted at the door of the House of Guru Ram Das Gurdwara in Los Angeles, California, even to this day. His vision being that Gurdwara Security and Safety is not about acting out of fear or anger, it is about selflessly serving the Guru and the Sangat while fearlessly defending the weak and protecting the innocent for which Sikhs have a sacred duty. Karam khand ki bani jor. Tithai hor na koi hor.
In the realm of Karam, the Word is Power.
No one else dwells there,

Tithai jodh maha-bal sur. Tin meh ram rahia bharpur.

Except the Warriors of great power, the Spiritual Heroes.
They are totally fulfilled, imbued with the Lord's Essence.

Tithai sito sita mehma mahi. Ta ke rup na kathne jahi.

Myriads of Sitas are there, cool and calm in their
majestic glory. Their beauty cannot be described.

Na ohi marahi na thage jahi. Jin kai Ram vasai man mahi.

Neither death nor deception comes to those
within whose minds the Lord abides.

Tithai bhagat vasahi ke loa. Karahi anand sacha mani soe.

The Devotees of many worlds dwell there.
They celebrate; their minds are imbued with the True Lord...

PSALM 82:3-4

"Human is a blend of Saint and Soldier (Sant Sipahi); this is a complete person.
If you are not a soldier your sainthood will be kicked around. If you are only a
soldier, not a saint, you will start kicking others around." Yogi Bhajan 8/6/1975

"I can think of a number of fanatical, over-zealous religious groups who
would do us all well to take Yogi Bhajan's advice." Hari Singh Khalsa

Sat Nam. The Siri Singh Sahib was asked to express his priorities for a community gathering in the early ‘70s. His reply, “Security, Security, Security.” I share his vision. I have the concern that with the passage of time, nay, even as we speak, the memory of the Oak Creek massacre will fade away just as the memory of the infamous 1984 Operation Blue Star attack on the Sikhs in India seems to have disappeared from our recollection. Many Sikhs simply tag these events as the will of God and Guru, which is true, but we cannot stop there. There is a deeper message, a challenge, that has apparently gone unnoticed, i.e., our sacred duty to fearlessly "defend the weak and protect the innocent," just as Guru Gobind Singh taught us. So, I am requesting that the Sikh ministers act to meet our present day challenges. Not out of a sense of fear or apprehension, but with the same courage and fearlessness as did Guru Gobind Singh and our beloved Siri Singh Sahib. I urge my fellow ministers to answer this call by purchasing the Active Shooter Survival Training DVD shown below, and sharing it with their respective sangats. See Jai Jagdeesh Kaur's Ad Guray Nameh.

Active Shooter Survival DVD is
a reality-based training production.
Training covers the following topics.

Planning for Survival
Stopping the Shooter
Escaping the Violence
Hiding from the Shooter
Preventing Violent Intrusions
Collective Survival Strategies
Disrupting the Shooter’s Intentions

Training includes a step-by-step how-to, such as:

Protecting you from extreme violence
Responding to an active shooter
Managing workplace violence
Improving Gurdwara security
Becoming better prepared
Saving innocent lives
Surviving terrorism

Who is responsible for your security?

Most people are reactive when it comes to their safety and well-being.
Most people respond only after threats have materialized and the problem is acute.
This approach brings little solace to the victims and is dangerous.
The most effective security is preventative as well as proactive.
The radicalization of fringe elements in society is increasing.
The targeting of minorities is nothing new and will continue.
Community preparedness is a must; its absence is a liability. --
Alon Stivi, CEO, Direct Measures International

"Your value is not in how many experiences you have had.
It is in your stability -- in how much sacrifice you can do.
Your value is in how effectively and how consistently you can
live for others. Your value is in how you can take command of
yourself and others in any situation. Your value is in your capability
of firmly planting yourself in the neutrality of your higher consciousness
and standing as a pillar of strength, turning every negative to a positive.
Your value is how quickly you are there when the call comes." -- Yogi Bhajan

"Security consciousness is a state of being whereby we live in service
to humanity, inspiring and assisting others to do the same. And while
it is our sacred purpose to celebrate Naam and live as saints, it is our
sacred duty to defend the weak and protect the innocent." -- Hari Singh

It remains true today, in the ancient tradition of ignorance,
that people of faith and otherwise good sense hasten
to ostracize and demonize any person or group
whose beliefs and customs are unlike their own.

Immediately after September 11, 2001, an epidemic of hate crimes against minorities swept the United States and other countries. The wave of hate crimes and hate violence affected Muslims especially, and anyone perceived to be a Muslim, e.g., Sikhs, Arabs, South Asians, Latinos, and other brown-skinned people. Incidents occurred in every part of the public sphere: houses, roadways, workplaces, airports, school grounds, and street corners, as well as churches, synagogues, mosques, temples and gurdwaras in nearly every major city in the United States. In targeted communities, places of worship have been burned, homes vandalized, families threatened, jobs denied, children bullied, women harassed, men and women beaten and murdered.

In Memoriam

On Sunday morning, August 5, 2012, people were praying, cooking in the kitchen and preparing for the day's kirtan (musical) program at the Sikh temple, the Gurdwara Sahib, in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Tragically, a deranged man entered and opened fire with handguns, killing six innocent people and wounding three others, including a heroic police officer, before taking his own life. -- (See History of Sikhs in America.)

Security does not happen by accident!

Security is those actions or systems, which prevent or minimize
the occurrence of adverse events within specific environments.
The most effective security is preventative as well as proactive,
and serves to minimize any risk to life, property or environments.

Sat Nam, Brothers and Sisters! I am a former U.S. Marine and someone who has been involved with Gurdwara and Solstice security for decades. I would like to address what I see as a general absence of security/soldier consciousness within Sikh communities by quoting the Siri Singh Sahib, who said: “Human is a blend of Saint and Soldier; this is a complete person. If you are not a Soldier your sainthood will be kicked around. If you are only a Soldier, not a Saint, you will start kicking others around.”

The Siri Singh Sahib was once asked to express his priorities at a 3HO Solstice Sadhana gathering in the early ‘70s. His reply was, “Security, Security, Security.” And since the establishment of the Guru Ram Das Ashram in Los Angeles, and until this very day, a sevadar is posted at the door of the gurdwara as ordered by the Siri Singh Sahib. Security has been a priority consideration since the earliest days of 3HO/Sikh Dharma.

While recently speaking with a sangat member regarding the subject of Gurdwara Security and Safety, she mentioned how she thought she would engage an active-shooter incident within her community. She said her first instinct would be to physically cover any potential victims with her body as a shield. I advised her that this would be exactly the wrong action to take. I suggested that she think about the instructions given by airline attendants concerning an in-flight emergency. Passengers are advised to take self-saving actions first by utilizing their oxygen mask on themselves before attempting to assist anybody else.

It may seem counter-intuitive, but self-preservation must be the first response in order for other potential victims to be protected and defended. Contrary to the unfortunate outcomes of numerous recent horrific events, an active-shooter event is not a situation where potential victims are without recourse. This is addressed in numerous, simple, and surprising ways in a survival training video called Survival Edge: Active Shooter Survival, available at ACTCert.com (ACT stands for Attack Countermeasures Training), which I urge all communities to acquire and view. This DVD provides a reality-based, step-by-step training program that covers how to protect you and others from extreme violence, including responding to an active shooter, managing workplace violence, improving Gurdwara security and safety, becoming better prepared, saving innocent lives and surviving terrorism.

Though the outcome of the shooting event in Oak Creek, Wisconsin in 2012 was horrific, those murders might have been preventable to a significant extent. There are specific actions (some even at the time of the attack) that could have possibly mitigated the outcome.

Since the incident, many Sikhs have opined that as unfortunate as it was, it was the will of God and Guru. This is true. But I opine that the event did not just happen in order to happen. It happened with a clear and challenging message to the Sadh Sangat: as Sikhs of Guru Gobind Singh, it is our sacred duty to defend the weak and protect the innocent.

My question is, what are we collectively doing to meet this challenge? What are we doing in the way of securing our communities, whereby we honor our sacred duty?

My concern is that with the passage of time, the memory of the Oak Creek massacre and other tragedies will fade away. I strongly encourage all members of the Sikh community – and especially Sikh Dharma Ministers – to act now to meet this ever-present challenge – not out of a sense of reactionary fear, but with the same attention and fearless dedication as our beloved Siri Singh Sahib.

As a member of the 3HO Solstice Security and Safety advisory team, I am working to help develop programs and awareness, and I am happy to receive communication from sangat members.

My web site at www.GurdwaraSecurity.com provides resources, tips, and thoughts about this important topic.

Open Letter To The First Teachers

Sat Nam, Khalsa ji! In the wake of the attention now being given for and against gun ownership, I have frequently recalled a scene from many years ago with a wince, even a shudder on one hand, and a smile with a head-shake on the other.

Women: Wimps or Warriors?

I was in a mixed group discussing security and gun safety training in which a young woman reluctantly picked up a handgun between her thumb and forefinger as if picking up a dead mouse. The scene stuck with me ever since. And all the recent talk about guns and violence has especially caused me to recall that silly albeit sad scenario. Silly because it looked so comical, sad because it is indicative of where I see the mind set of many women, today.

If a woman is attacked by a gun-toting assailant, her chance
of survival diminishes greatly if she has no training in
survival skills, e.g., martial arts and firearms training.

Saint Mai Bhago Kaur Soldier

Regardless of where you stand on gun control, knowledge of firearms equates with strength, ignorance of firearms equates with weakness.

New Mexico Military Institute can provide this.
A two-year leadership program is available.

Those who shall not learn to obey shall never be
in a position to command. --
Yogi Bhajan

A woman who is not a leader is a miserable person… A leader has three things.
First thing, leader has to sacrifice; second thing, leader has to stand alone; and
third, leader has to lead. And leader has to lead by example, by action and by word.
A leader is one who can stand on the top of the ladder and can stay balanced and
alone. So basically, if you do not want to be the leaders, and you do not want to
lead the home, lead the family, lead your environments, with grace, with courage
and with intelligence, you will have nothing in your life...
-- Yogi Bhajan

Create dependable children, not dependent children. Give your children
the basic values to face their own tomorrows, not be blinded by yours. Make
them proper personalities, not helpless puppets. Position them for success; do
not paralyze them with the commotion of your emotions. --
Yogi Bhajan

The basic aspect of you as woman is not in your sensuality and in your dramas.
You are not only the givers of life, you are the manufacturers of character. Whatever
character you will give to your children, that shall be their future. --
Yogi Bhajan

Your reliability will give people the courage to trust you.
Their trust will give you the power to carry a situation. A leader
carries and serves people. Learn to lead as a ‘seva’ (to sacrifice your
time and resources for the benefit of others without wanting anything in
return); people will love you, and you will continue to expand. --
Yogi Bhajan

Children are born with intrinsic leadership traits, which prepare them for life.
These must translate positively into the lives they lead as citizens of the world.
These are: Service, Justice, Courage, Compassion, Decisiveness, Reliability,
Integrity, Initiative, Knowledge, Loyalty, Enthusiasm, Endurance. --

Sant-Sipahi is their heritage

Sat Nam, Khalsa ji! I am a passionate proponent of more balance between our claims to accept and understand the concept of Saint-Soldier, and actually living our lives as authentic Sant-Sipahi. To this end I strongly urge Khalsa parents, especially our women, the first teachers of our children, to consider the following points.

The First Teachers

.) I urge you to consider enrolling our children at the New Mexico Military Institute, located in Roswell, New Mexico. My kids graduated high school with honors at NMMI in the early '80s, the first children of Sikh Dharma to attend a military school in America. The Siri Singh Sahib expressed pleasure upon observing cadet training when he visited NMMI in 1983. He advised us then that he would have enrolled his own children at NMMI if he had known of its existence. Another group of children who attended school in India later attended NMMI in the early '90s.

Hari Singh, Sat Kartar Singh, Hari Kaur, and General Gerald Childress,
with Yogi Bhajan, and Ong Kar Kaur at New Mexico Military Institute, 1983.

Sikh minister, M.S.S. Hari Singh, addresses Sikh cadets in front of the NMMI chapel, 1992.

New Mexico Military Institute offers an outstanding two year college option for your sons and daughters after they complete their time at Miri Piri Academy. For those families for which MPA is not an option, NMMI has an excellent four year high school college prep program in addition to their two year college program. New Mexico Military Institute has been ranked No. 5 on a list of the nation’s top 50 community colleges by an independent organization, i.e., TheBestSchools.org, which has described the Roswell, New Mexico school as the “only state-supported, coeducational, military boarding school in the United States.” The school offers college prep, a four-year high school and a two-year junior college. See NMMI Strategic Measures Statistics.

Each of the former Sikhi students/graduates of NMMI provide a testament to the advantages of attending NMMI, which include a rigorous and challenging lifestyle, camaraderie and fellowship, and outstanding leadership training especially, along with NMMI's excellent scholastic program. This experience prepared them for additional university training, and exciting careers all over the world. NMMI is the only American prep school I know that has a history of accommodating the Sikhi lifestyle, i.e., sadhana, kesh, turban, sipahi training, and vegetarian diet. And it is an excellent environment for Sikhi youth to learn leadership and soldiering skills for which the Siri Singh Sahib was a passionate proponent.

The NMMI program offers MPA students and other Sikh youth a unique and reasonably cost-effective opportunity to transition from the Indian program into the American experience as a unit, and the obvious advantage of continued bonding with their peers. See NMMI Admissions, or click admissions@nmmi.edu, or call 800-421-5376.

.) I urge you to support a resurgence of the Women's Close Order Drill Team, about which the Siri Singh Sahib frequently commented, "If you cannot walk together, you cannot work together." He initiated this training back in the late '70s at Khalsa Women's Training Camp in addition to the Women's Select Rifle Drill Team and Firearms Training.

.) I urge you to reflect on the Siri Singh Sahib's words, "Human is a blend of Saint and Soldier (Sant Sipahi); this is a complete person. If you are not a Soldier your sainthood will be kicked around. If you are only a Soldier, not a Saint, you will start kicking others around."

Again, our youth deserve leadership training going forward. I know of no readily available source of formal leadership training available to our Sikh youth other than the New Mexico Military Institute.

Your thoughts?

Sat Nam Hari Singh,

Hope you and your family are keeping well.

As you must have heard, another Gurdwara in California got vandalized recently. Please let me know your comments on security measures we can suggest to various Gurdwaras that they can take to prevent these incidents. Also, what do you think the local, state and federal government can do to protect our Gurdwaras.

Bhai Sahib ____________________ --

Sat Nam, Bhai Sahib ji!

Thank you for your inquiry!

I am truly saddened to hear of the recent Gurdwara vandalism.

Regarding your request for my thoughts about local Gurdwara actions, I suggest that immediate consideration be given to adopting and distributing the General Protocols listed at GurdwaraSecurity.com.

These should be supplemented with any appropriate Special Operating Protocols unique to a respective Gurdwara.

In addition, I suggest that Sangat leaders make contact with local law enforcement, medical emergency and other first responders, ASAP, for the purpose of initiating a security and safety assessment audit in order to determine the actual security status of the Gurdwara environment plus the adjacent property and neighborhood, followed by the implementation of any appropriate recommendations. Communications with key people within these same agencies should remain well established and maintained, as well. (Note: It may be helpful to direct local agencies to this site, WhoAreTheSikhs.com, for historical reference, especially regarding the Oak Creek tragedy.)

Further, I suggest that Sangat leaders immediately execute actions that secure Gurdwara environments, e.g., employ an on-site uniformed, and armed law enforcement officer along with an on-site marked vehicle presence during high visibility Sunday activities, especially. This action will provide the Sangat with a) an on-site, professionally trained agent with arrest powers, and b) legal cover in the event of potential liability issues.

With respect to vandalism concerns, I suggest that security video cameras be deployed at key points around the Gurdwara perimeters as well as inside the Gurdwara. This will also provide a means by which safety issues such as fire and-or hazardous and emergency medical events can be monitored. The security audit will more than likely cover this issue.

A final thought, although this may not be practical for obvious reasons, remember that the Siri Singh Sahib directed that a Sevadar be stationed full-time at the entrance of House of Guru Ram Das Gurdwara, Los Angeles. To my knowledge, this remains the case to this day. See GurdwaraSecurity.com. See Interior-Guard.com.

Be well.
