3HO Stories
Sat Nam. I have a story about 3HO. While in
Seattle for Tantric,
the Siri Singh Sahib asked me to
design a new logo for 3HO in time for the 10th anniversary celebration.
I had previously designed the KRI, Kundalini
Research Institute, logo with Gurucharan Singh. The Seattle
Tantric was in September 1978.
The
KRI logo is the symbol for elevation of individual consciousness.
The 3HO logo would become the symbol for the elevation of group consciousness
worldwide.
It
was finished by the first of the year for the January 1979 Celebration.
And appeared on the cover of Beads of Truth, April 1979 10th Anniversary
Issue.

We updated both logos 5-6 years ago bringing in finer detail on the
characters and application. Font elements from the European version
were used on the new 3HO logo and it became the standardized international
symbol. It appears in many color versions, white and black, but remains
the same logo worldwide. The KRI logo is standardized for all KRI
products and services, including the seal of approval for other publications
translated worldwide.
It started in design school when I was studying old Druid symbology.
I wondered where the Peace Symbol had come from. Turned out it was
originally the Ban the Bomb symbol created in England.
The
figure downward (death) in a circle (fire or life depending on use)
symbolized death by fire – by Nuclear weapons. It has evolved
to be the peace symbol. Further research indicated that upraised figures
with arms raised would be praise to the heavens. And the circle would
be life. I put three figures together, arms raised to the heaven in
a circle of life and created the "brotherhood of man" symbol. I
carried that symbol around for years looking for the true faith or
organization that would merit it's power.
As the Siri Singh Sahib and I talked about a new logo for 3HO, I showed
him the brotherhood of man symbol. He said that was it. And to make
it look like the KRI logo with the figures sitting in the same yogic
posture. And have the figures holding up the world with the circle
of life around it. Over the world place the old 3HO triangle logo
with the three points of Healthy, Happy, Holy.

Thus
were born two symbols akin to each other. One the elevation of individual
consciousness and the other group consciousness. Universal symbols
that speak of working, meditating, praying to create an elevation
of individual consciousness and working, meditating and praying together
to hold up and serve the world in that consciousness. The personification
of the teachings applied. --
