When
Allied Forces liberated the Nazi concentration camps in
1945, General Dwight D. Eisenhower ordered his command to
take as many documentary photos as possible for future evidence.
General
Dwight D. Eisenhower
34th President of the United States
Eisenhower
ordered the residents of the surrounding cities to view the camps
and in some cases he ordered them to assist in the burial of the many
corpses.
Eisenhower
explained his reasoning.
"The day will come when some 'son of
a bitch' will say this never happened."
"All
that is needed for evil to succeed is that
decent human beings do nothing." -- Edmund Burke
More
than 60 years after WW II ended,
Eisenhower's warning has come to pass.
6
million Jews ...
10
million Christians ...
20
million Russians were murdered, raped and humiliated.
And now, much of the world denies or wants to forget about it.
Now,
England's Department for Education and Skills requires
the teaching of the Holocaust in schools at stage 3, ages 11 to 14.
