"What?"

TALKING...
    TEXTING...
         DRIVING...
                   DEAD...
                   AT 85 MPH

WARNING!

WHAT FOLLOWS IS
DISTURBINGLY GRAPHIC

This Honda 'crotch rocket' was traveling at approximately
85 mph. The VW driver was talking on her cell phone when
she pulled out from a side street, and apparently didn't see
the motorcycle. The cyclist's reaction time was not sufficient
enough to avoid this accident. The VW had two passengers.
The Honda cyclist was found INSIDE the car with them.
The VW flipped from the force of the impact and landed
more than 20 feet from where the collision took place.
All three people were killed instantly.

National Transportation Safety Board issues ban on cell phone use.
And this is why. A 19 year old driver texted 11 times in 11 minutes
before causing this deadly crash in which he was killed.

His last text was just before his pickup crashed into the back of this tractor truck,
beginning a chain collision. Then his pickup was rear-ended by a school
bus, which in turn was rammed from behind by a second school bus.

Many of the most frequent texting-while-driving offenders use this rationale:
"I don't have a problem. I'm on the road with nothing else to do anyway."
They fail to realize that driving a 2 ton vehicle through traffic is risky.

POINTS TO PONDER
From a visitor of this site.

"Indeed. I was also a fireman/EMT at one time on a pay call department. Even made Captain.

It was a beach town right on California Hwy 1. Lots of drunken crashes. Got so we never went anywhere on long holiday weekends. We made too much money with these kinds of wrecks.

Get a little numb from it. Like being in combat. Sure makes one want to drive a tank (which I do). And gives a perspective why so many fireman drive big SUVs...painted red.

Good to make people look at this stuff. But lots of young people think they are invincible. Especially 18-24 males on super bikes. We have a canyon road just behind the community that is favored by these guys.

Topanga Canyon in LA is famous for it's super bikes and super wrecks. Where the bikes drive right through the cars. Especially Japanese cars. Especially Hondas.

Brings back some old memories. And a reminder to stay clear of some of the favorite haunts for super bikes." --
